止とまった時計とけい

仕事しごとに行いく前まえに、私わたしは公園こうえんのベンチに座すわって、新聞しんぶんを読よんでいます。
あれ、私わたしの時計とけいが九時くじで止とまっています。
今いまの本当ほんとうの時間じかんが分わかりません。
近ちかくの人ひとに「すみません、今いま何時なんじですか」と聞ききます。
その人ひとは「もう九時半くじはんですよ」と答こたえます。
もう仕事しごとの時間じかんですから、私わたしは急いそいで会社かいしゃへ走はしります。

• Use the dictionary form of a verb plus ～前まえに to say that one action happens before another. Here, sitting on the park bench and reading happen before going to work: 「仕事しごとに行いく前まえに、私わたしは公園こうえんのベンチに座すわって、新聞しんぶんを読よんでいます。」 (Before going to work, I am sitting on a park bench and reading a newspaper.)
• Use the te-form of a verb plus ～います to describe a state that continues after an action is completed. Here, 止とまっています means that the watch stopped and is still stopped: 「あれ、私わたしの時計とけいが九時くじで止とまっています。」 (Huh, my watch is stopped at nine o’clock.)
