箸がありません

昨日きのう、友達ともだちと京都きょうとの兄あにの家いえへ行いきました。
新幹線しんかんせんの中なかでお弁当べんとうを開あけました。
でも、食たべるとき、箸はしがありませんでした。
私わたしは友達ともだちに「箸はしを持もっていますか」と聞ききました。
そして、友達ともだちに新あたらしい箸はしをもらいました。
友達ともだちはいつも箸はしを持もっていますから、よかったです。

• 「Vる/た + とき」 means “when (you do/did something).” Example: 「でも、食たべるとき、箸はしがありませんでした。」 (But when I was about to eat, I did not have any chopsticks.) Here 「食たべるとき」 means “when (I was about to) eat.”
• 「N に + もらいます」 is used for receiving something from someone (the giver is marked with に). Example: 「そして、友達ともだちに新あたらしい箸はしをもらいました。」 (And then, I received new chopsticks from my friend.)

No Chopsticks

Yesterday, I went to my older brother’s house in Kyoto with a friend.
I opened a bento inside the Shinkansen.
But when I was about to eat, I did not have any chopsticks.
I asked my friend, “Do you have chopsticks?”
And then, I received new chopsticks from my friend.
My friend always has chopsticks, so I was glad.
