夜よるの図書館としょかん

夜よる七時しちじ、私わたしは図書館としょかんで旅行りょこうの本ほんを読よんでいます。
隣となりの男おとこの人ひとが大おおきな声こえで電話でんわをかけていますから、本ほんを読よむことができません。
私わたしは男おとこの人ひとに「ここで電話でんわをかけないでください」と言いいます。
男おとこの人ひとは「すみません」と言いいますが、電話でんわをやめません。
私わたしはもう一度いちど「お願ねがいします」と言いいました。それから、男おとこの人ひとは図書館としょかんの外そとへ行いきました。
図書館としょかんは静しずかになりましたから、私わたしはまた旅行りょこうの本ほんを読よみました。

Grammar / Notes

• 〜ないでください (please don’t) 〜ないでください attaches to the ない-form of a verb to ask someone politely not to do something. 私わたしは男おとこの人ひとに「ここで電話でんわをかけないでください」と言いいます。(“I say to the man, ‘Please do not make phone calls here.’”)
• 〜と言いいます (say that) 〜と言いいます reports what someone says, and と marks the reported content. An indirectly reported clause normally takes the plain form. A direct quotation in 「」 keeps the speaker’s original wording. 私わたしは男おとこの人ひとに「ここで電話でんわをかけないでください」と言いいます。(“I say to the man, ‘Please do not make phone calls here.’”)

The Library at Night

At seven in the evening, I am reading a travel book at the library.
The man next to me is talking loudly on the phone, so I cannot read my book.
I say to the man, “Please do not make phone calls here.”
The man says, “I’m sorry,” but he does not stop his phone call.
I said “Please” once more. Then the man went outside the library.
The library became quiet, so I read my travel book again.
