  • Sentence-final ね at the end of a sentence seeks agreement or shares a feeling with the listener, like ‘isn’t it?’ or ‘right?’. (“The store worker said, ‘They’re over there. The location is different today, isn’t it.’”)
  • 〜が (but) between two clauses means ‘but’ and joins two contrasting ideas into one sentence. The first clause usually ends in the polite form. (“But there were no eggs on the egg shelf.”)

English

The Eggs at the Supermarket

On Sunday morning, I went to the supermarket to buy eggs.
But there were no eggs on the egg shelf.
I was troubled.
I said to a store worker, “Excuse me, where are the eggs? Please tell me.”
The store worker said, “They’re over there. The location is different today, isn’t it.”
There were many eggs on the new shelf, and I bought ten.
