日本語にほんごのメニュー

金曜日きんようびの晩ばん、私わたしは新あたらしいレストランへ行いきました。
メニューは全部ぜんぶ日本語にほんごで、写真しゃしんがありませんでした。
魚さかなが好すきですから、店みせの人ひとに「魚さかなの料理りょうりはどれですか」と聞ききました。
店みせの人ひとは「これですよ」と言いいました。
私わたしはそれをお願ねがいしました。
美味おいしい魚さかなを食たべて、とても楽たのしかったです。

Grammar / Notes

• 〜がすきです / きらいです Noun + がすきです means ‘like’ and noun + がきらいです ‘dislike’. The thing liked takes が, because すき and きらい are na-adjectives, not verbs. 魚さかなが好すきですから、店みせの人ひとに「魚さかなの料理りょうりはどれですか」と聞ききました。(“Since I like fish, I asked the shop staff, ‘Which one is the fish dish?’”)
• Sentence-final よ よ at the end of a sentence tells the listener something new or adds emphasis to what the speaker is saying. 店みせの人ひとは「これですよ」と言いいました。(“The shop staff said, ‘It’s this one.’”)

The Japanese Menu

On Friday evening, I went to a new restaurant.
The menu was all in Japanese, and there were no pictures.
Since I like fish, I asked the shop staff, “Which one is the fish dish?”
The shop staff said, “It’s this one.”
I asked for that one.
I ate delicious fish, and I had a great time.
