Grammar / Notes

- いちばん (the most) いちばん before an adjective marks the highest degree (‘the most …’); the group compared is often given with 〜の中で. スーパーの人に「いちばん冷たい飲み物は何ですか」と聞きました。(“I asked a supermarket staff member, ‘What is the coldest drink?’”)
- Linking adjectives (〜くて / 〜で) To describe something with two adjectives, an i-adjective drops い and takes くて (いい becomes よくて), and a na-adjective or noun takes で; only the last one carries です. お茶はとても冷たくて、おいしかったです。(“The tea was very cold and delicious.”)
